Points of Interest about the Region
- Most visitors to Fife will want to make a bee line for the Old Course at St.Andrews but it can be difficult to get a tee time & accommodation in the high season, so book well in advance.
- Fife is a great base for golfing, particularly if travelling north to Angus, west to the Central region or heading south to Edinburgh & East Lothian.
- Despite the east coast of Fife’s reputation for excellent links courses, don’t give up the chance to place inland courses like The Dukes or Ladybank, to name a couple.
- Fife region can be split in to two halves – the rural North East and the more industrial South West.
- St.Andrews is renowned for it’s golf courses but even older than it’s golf courses is it’s university which is the oldest in Scotland (c.1410) and third oldest in the English speaking world after Oxford & Cambridge.
- Similar to the micro climate in East Lothian, the east coast of Fife is also considered to be one of the drier and sunniest places in Scotland.
