Dirleton Links
On coastal land that has hosted golf for over 100 years, DJ Russell has created the 18 holes of the Dirleton Links. It’s a challenging expression of a traditional Scottish links course with its sweeping fairways, deep, menacing bunkers and undulating dunes bordering the fairways. Already enjoyed by a quartet of Masters Champions, from Gary Player to Ian Woosnam.
Craigielaw Golf Club
Course Description
Inspired by the great links courses of Britain, particularly those on land which are less dominated by dunes, Craigielaw is equal to many of the finest examples of such courses; some of which are conveniently located nearby in the East Lothian area.
Designed by Donald Steel & Co. the course opened in 2001 and in this short period has been host to many national events, including the 2006 Scottish Amateur Strokeplay Championship and was a qualifying course for the 2007 British Seniors Open at Muirfield.
With challenging greens, cavernous bunkers and spectacular views over the Firth of Forth, Gullane Hill and out towards Edinburgh and Fife, Craigielaw Golf Club is an experience not to be missed.
Dunbar Golf Club
Course Description
A challenging, Open qualifying, championship links course, with scenic views out over the Firth of Forth, the Bass Rock and Fife. In traditional links style, the design of the course is straight out & straight back, with the back nine holes generally into the prevailing westerly wind!
Gifford Golf Club
Course Description
Nestling in its tranquil setting at the foot of the Lammermuir Hills the course is set in parkland bounded by mature woods and farmland. The Speedy Burn meanders through the course and it comes into play on several of the holes.
Gifford is renowned for its greens, which are a challenge for even the best of golfers. For those playing a full 18 holes, the different positions of some tees for the back nine provides new challenges.
Gullane Golf Club

Golf has been played over the links at Gullane for more than 350 years. Today, Gullane Golf Club is one of Scotland’s most prestigious member clubs, mixing the finest tradition with some of the most admired natural links land in the world.
Gullane is blessed with superb turf and a climate that allows all year round golf. Visitors are welcome to play our championship courses which offer dramatic coastal views and a golfing challenge to savour.
Laid out over prime seaside land, the three golf courses are simply known by number reflecting their age.

Gullane No. 1 (1884) has a long history of hosting national and international championship golf events. The Club was delighted to host the 2015 Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open and has also previously hosted Local Final Qualifying for the Open Championship at neighbouring Muirfield. The last time this was held was in 2013.
Gullane No. 2 (1898) was laid out by the legendary Willie Park Jr and has also been used for Open Championship Qualifying as well as the Seniors Open Amateur.
Gullane No. 3 (1910) was also designed by Willie Park Jr. It may be the shortest of the three courses, but it provides a wonderful test based on shot-making skills rather than power.
Gullane offers a unique range of golfing experiences for members and visitors alike, combining a major role in the history of golf in Scotland, great golfing conditions, and a truly spectacular environment.
Haddington Golf Club
Kilspindie Golf Club
Course Description
Golf has been played over this piece of links land prior to 1850 but it was not until 26 November 1898 that the links was officially opened by Luffness Golf Club which was re-named Kilspindie Golf Club in 1899.
The links were designed by Park and Sayers with minor modifications over the years. What is interesting, for example is that the first hole, par 3, is due north whilst the 2nd hole is the only par 5 and, when played into the prevailing wind from the south west, can play more like a par 6 or7! Imagine what it must have been like with hickories!!
How many courses can boast of a “magazine” and a “target” on their course and these small buildings were exactly that up to the end of the First World War when the local territorial army unit used the course in conjunction with the golf club – one had to be aware of other hazards in those days!
Every year some 27-28k pairs of feet enjoy these links and this is testament to its lasting design and layout.
Recognised locally, nationally and internationally Kilspindie is a hidden gem if there was ever any doubt!
Longniddry Golf Club
Course Description
The laying out of the course was entrusted to Harry S Colt, one of the foremost architects of the day. There have been a number of alterations to Harry Colt’s original layout e.g in 1936 James Braid was invited to advise on the second hole, following which a number of changes were made to the course, although none, it would appear, to the second! During the war, part of the course was ploughed up for food production, following which Philip Mackenzie Ross was invited to make good the damage, most significantly the scrapping of two holes by the sea. More recently, Donald Steele was engaged to advise on the course architecture, particularly the bunkering.
Luffness New Golf Club
Course Description
Situated in the heart of the renowned golfing country on the East Lothian coastline neighbouring Gullane, Muirfield and North Berwick Golf Clubs. There can be few more stimulating courses than Luffness New.
One can be astonished in middle age to walk off the 18th green feeling so invigorated and refreshed. The nature of the turf probably has something to do with this, being of the springy type which gives gently to the feet, like a rich Persian carpet. The sea air too has its beneficial qualities and the course is sensibly flat apart from minor undulations associated with seaside courses. On good days and bad, Luffness offers a feeling of escape, allied to a sense of challenge and enjoyment that few other courses can match.

Course Description
Muirfield is a renowned host to major championships amateur and professional, international and national. Quite simply, one of the finest courses in Scotland, with magnificant views over the Firth of Forth.
Musselburgh Old Links
Course Description
The World’s Oldest Golf Course.
Musselburgh Links, The Old Golf Course is an original Open Championship venue, hosting the event on six occasions between 1874 and 1889.
Documentary evidence proves that golf was played on Musselburgh Links as early as 2 March 1672 although Mary, Queen of Scots reputedly played here in 1567.
