Course Description

Glasgow’s hidden gem & one of Scotland’s best parkland golf courses
bigpicGolf in Glasgow doesn’t get any better than being out on the course at Balmore.

Founded in 1907 on the grounds of Glenorchard Estate and designed by golf’s first superstar Harry Vardon (winner of the British Open a record six times), our exceptional parkland golf course is set in a beautiful location with vast open spaces, mature trees and abundant wildlife.

Nestled amongst beautiful rolling countryside between the East Dunbartonshire villages of Torrance and Baldernock, golfers enjoy uninterrupted views and a sense of tranquility that belies the fact you are just seven miles from Glasgow.

Our golf course is always in excellent condition, with sculpted fairways and beautifully manicured greens that have all recently been brought up to USGA specification, offering a highly enjoyable golfing experience for all standards of golfer.

It also boasts some of the best Par 3’s in Scotland, including our signature 16th hole.

Course Description

Our course is unique in the area, being basically 9 holes but with 7 alternate greens. A 9 hole course may be viewed in some quarters as a disadvantage but the current thinking of the sport’s governing bodies is that there is a need for more 9 hole courses. This thinking is influenced in part by the pressures of modern living, which can be offset against the playing- time of 18 hole rounds in favour of a faster 9 hole course, greatly reducing the time needed to participate in the sport. With a Standard Scratch Score of 69 our course is arguably the most challenging test in the Bearsden and Milngavie area.

Course Description

Blairmore and Strone Golf Club was opened in 1896. A Braid designed course set above the Clyde with breathtaking views of Loch Long, Holy Loch and the Firth of Clyde. The course is a mixture of hilly and some flatter parkland which presents quite a challenge despite it’s relatively short length of 2112 yards over 9 holes.

Visitors are always welcome and are asked to observe general golf etiquette at all times. An honesty box is provided at the clubhouse for when it is unattended. We ask that all visitors respect this and wish them a good days golf at Blairmore and Strone.

A SPECIAL golfing experience awaits close to the sands of Stravannan Bay on the west coast of the beautiful Isle of Bute.
Here you will find a hidden gem … Bute Golf Club’s unique nine-hole Kingarth course which provides an opportunity to sample the very origins of the game. Golf has been played here for more than 129 years, making it the oldest course on the island.
Players can enjoy the splendour of seaside golf in a spectacular setting with the dramatic backdrop of The Sleeping Warrior on the mountains of Arran. There are panoramic views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre in the west and to the Ayrshire coast in the east from this short, but tricky, course.
