September Golf in Scotland – it doesn’t come much better!
When the suns shines upon Scotland, there can be no better place to golf – but when the wind drops and the sun shines, well, you know the golfing gods are looking after you!
Today was certainly one of those days in Edinburgh and I was delighted to get the chance to play Duddingston Golf Club.
Duddingston is a lush parkland course, undulating but not too hilly. Don’t be fooled if you ease your way around the front nine, the closing 9 holes are some what tougher, particularly if the prevailing westerly wind blows.
The greens have recently been sanded (Sept 2017) and therefore a bit slow but otherwise the course is in great shape. This course is a delight to play and well worth booking in advance if visiting Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Arthur’s Seat looks down upon the course and it can be seen from most holes. The best view of Craigmillar Castle is as you walk down the lefthand side of the 18th fairway.
We were well looked after in the bar afterwards for lunch – 2x Scampis, 1 Haddock & a Lasagne all went down well – there were 4 of us!!
Well worth checking for lunch/bar opening hours as we approach the winter
season.
